Valentine’s Day is a special day of love. Many engagements happen around
Valentine’s Day. Once the excitement of the engagement wanes, where do you start?
Size of Wedding? Date of Wedding? Location of Wedding should probably be at
the top of the list and the decisions in the above order.
Immediate family, Best friends, Close relatives, family friends, other friends. and
distant relatives could help you determine who to invite. Determine the number
you want to have at your wedding and start with immediate families at the top of
the list. On average, attendance at weddings is between 75% – 85% of invited
guests and 35% seems to be the amount of attendees at destination weddings.
The average Midwest wedding is 139. Smaller, intimate weddings often increase
percent of attendance.
It’s important to arrive at a fairly accurate number of attendees as that is the
number you will give to the caterer.
The groom and bride need to talk, clearly agree and determine the limits for the
inputs from the parents, family and friends. It’s a good start to get used to
communicating with each other. Stay the course! Don’t leave out your groom.
He may not seem that interested in the details, like what type of hair ribbon should
the bride wear? but keep him reigned into the planning. Communication goes a
long way, and you want it to go throughout your marriage. Make that a priority for
you, your soon to be husband, and your future. Communication is not only talking, but
listening.
